I had no problem at all installing this device. I like the fact it has a small docking station with a USB cable that allows it to sit on top of my PC where I can see it and has better direct lines of sight with the router, plus I can see the activity light. I have no complaints about the software. I used the WPS feature (aka Push-N-Connect) to connect to a WPS-enabled router. A great feature - everything done for you. I also used the manual setup to connect to an outside network, and it seems pretty straightforward to me. Way better and way easier than my old wireless b/g device.
I bought this product to improve my wireless range. To start with, the included install CD did not work. I ended up just plugging the adapter in and letting my computer do the grunt work of finding a driver that would work. However, if you do not already have wireless access in order to do this, it could be a huge pain.
While it worked, the streaming capabilities of the adapter were superior, BUT I would randomly lose signal for no reason. I would have to unplug and then plug the device back in to get it running again.
I bought this product later October and it is already not functioning. I plug it in, and it will have a connection for two seconds and then drop the signal. After that, it stops detecting any wireless connections whatsoever. I am supremely frustrated and am looking to buy a new product. I will not be purchasing anything made my Netgear again.
