Customer Reviews

Installation is easy, but nothing else really is. Poor reception with my Cisco WRT400N less than 70 ft away. Constantly drops connection every 10 to 15 minutes and has low speeds <6mbps when it is connected. The wireless monitor also has a tendency to eat memory. After about 4 days of use, it manages to hoard over 500mbs of memory. This is on Windows XP SP3...
If you're using Vista or Windows 7: DO NOT BUY THIS CARD. It is not compatible at all with windows 7 despite the compatibility assurance. This is perhaps the nail in the coffin for my 8 year product relationship with Linksys/Cisco.

So Here is my review my family is poor, my brother saved up money for this wireless pci card because his had a broken antena.
We waited two weeks for it to come in the mail, it got here 3 days ago. I installed the drivers from the disk 1st, as it asks me to do so. At the end of the instalation process from the disk where it asks me to power down the computer, I noticed something was wrong. the window I had pop up was all missconfigured, it had text overlaying text and the buttons to choose what looked like (yes I want to turn off my computer now) and (no I will restart my compuer later) were not alligned with the questions and it said click finish, there was no finish tab to click, I selected with the keyboard arrows, the one I thought was shut down now and the window went away, computer did nothing. So I shut down my computer, installed the pci card to the motherboard and turned on the computer. It booted up fine but wanted me to reset my network, ended up causing me to have to rename my network and make new passphrase that I was not happy about. Then I went to connect to the network and the computer crashed. not the normal kind with blue screen or black screen and text or even normal freeze up, it crashed with a graphics malfunction causing lines of random color from left to right, higher on right side then left. ctl alt deleat did nothing, x2 nothing, esc... nothing only way to get computer to respond, was press and hold power buttong till it shut off, turn it on again, I did so. computer crashed about 3 more times within 2-5 mins of boot up. so I decide to reinstall it, I shut it off, uninstall the pci card from mother board, turn on the computer, rerun, the driver disk asks me to uninstall old ones 1st,Ii click ok same problem at end of instalation, I guess I got a corrupt driver disk or something (although now I find others with this problem with windows vista even thogh they claim the product is compatible) anyways after that was done, I shut the computer, reinstalled pci card, turn it on, I connect to the internet with full bars from across the room 2 minutes go by, computer crashed in same frozen display malfunction of random lines and compleatly unresponsive. I restart, this happens 2 more times, I call tech support, after an hour or 2 on phone trying to explain whats going on and how can I fix it, they say some people have problem with it causing vista to crash but, they never heard the way I explained it, and that they want me to send them the card and they will send me a newer version that should work. ok so I get off the phone and uninstall the card. I go to turn on the compter light come on, fan comes on, mouse, keyboard has power but no display on my monitor, I check the chords all is fine. I try to restart it, still nothing. its late at night so I go to bed and call tech support the next day around 1:00, I'm on the phone with them untill about 4:30 getting nowhere, speaking to diffrent people even supervisors. I get off phone an other tech supports supposed to call me they call around 6:00 im on phone with them till about 6:30 still getting no where, had me do same thing as other techs reboot pressing f8 ect no help. so they guy goes and gives me his sales pitch, oh we can fix all your problems for a low fee of $139 a year blahblahblah. I explain to him, look I'm poor, I don't have money for this, your product messed up my compter how do i fix it. I get no where with him unless, I want to fork up money, so I call back lynksys support, still I get no were but my case has been escaladed. after all day on the phone, now I'm
waiting for tech support to call me tomorrow, well today is tomorrow, tech support called 10:00 in the morning I explain for the 50th time what happened to another person in there tech support and they say they will do some digging to figure out what happen and call me back sometime befor 4:00 today within 42 hours.
...... bottom line DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IT IS FALSE ADVERTIESMENT AND IM REPORTING IT TO THE BBB ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS HAD ISSUE WITH THIS I SUGGEST YOU DO THE SAME IT IS WRONG TO FALSELY ADVERTIZED SOMETHING TO BE COMPATIBLE WITH SOMETHING IF IT IS NOT
i hope you found my review helpfull here are some others who had problems
1.0 out of 5 stars Failure, October 11, 2008

The box mentions "Certified for Vista", but it's total bull. On their own website, Linksys mentions that they have no plans to support Vista, but that didn't stop them from combining shoddy Vista drivers that will freeze your system and require turning off and on the computer in order to continue.
Don't buy this product or any Linksys product. Vista isn't the problem, it's distributors like Linksys that won't take the time to program and test their drivers that's the problem.

I got this router for my wife's computer, running Windows XP. It worked perfectly fine on that computer. Do to rearranging the rooms in our house, we switched it to my computer which is running Vista. Freezes the computer every time, sometimes not even allowing it to get to the login screen.
If you have Vista installed, or ever intend to, DO NOT buy this card.
I gave this card a 1 star rating because of misleading advertising on the box. The box states that it is Windows Vista certified. As I stated earlier in the review, it worked great in Windows XP.
1.0 out of 5 stars Loses Connection To Internet Frequently, September 10, 2008

WMP110 adapter was installed on desktop using Windows XP SP2 32 bit. It always showed full bars to the router, yet it couldn't hold onto the internet connection for more than 5 minutes. Went through a ton of troubleshooting procedures and hours with Linksys reps, even exchanging them for 2 others, but nothing helped.

I have been a linksys fan forever, but this card makes vista even more of a nightmare. It freezes the system within 5 mins of bootup. It's not just 64bit... also 32.
2.0 out of 5 stars Not for Vista x64, August 24, 2008
By netjet "netjet" (Santa Clara, CA USA) - See all my reviewsThis review is from: Linksys by Cisco Rangeplus Wireless PCI Adapter (Personal Computers)
The up side is this card brings my reception bars up from 2 to 4 over the wmp54g.
The bad new is, this device and driver freezes my Windows Vista x64 edition within 5 minutes of boot-up. Updating the driver did not help. This wireless adapter might work for XP or 32-bit Vista, but not for Vista x64.
